Advisory Groups

The project had two Advisory Groups, one comprised of young people and one of adults. The role of both Advisory Groups was to contribute ideas to the project and offer advice on the project objectives.

Young People’s Advisory Group

We had a group of 6 young people aged 16-18 working with us on the project. Young advisors were involved throughout the project, by telling us about the best ways to find participants, trying out activities which we then used to collect young people’s views, and proving advice on practical issues, such as the best ways to let people know about the project findings.

Adult Advisory Group

The adults’ advisory group consisted of contributors with interest and expertise in migration and young people’s lives. The adult advisors had a similar role to that of the young advisors, contributing ideas to the project, key contacts and providing support with dissemination of findings from the research in the UK.

Our Adult Advisors were:

  • Prof Heaven Crawley, Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations, University of Coventry
  • Dr Nissa Finney, Reader in Human Geography, University of St Andrews
  • Prof Robbie Gilligan, Professor of Social Work and Social Policy at Trinity College, Dublin
  • Steve Govenlock, Multi-Cultural Family Base, Edinburgh
  • Fiona Ross, Scottish Youth Parliament
  • Prof Louise Ryan, Professorial Research Fellow, University of Sheffield
  • Heather Ogburn, Senior Adviser, Plymouth City Council
  • Maria Walker, Head of EAL services, Glasgow City Council
  • Prof Anne White, Professor of Polish Studies and Social and Political Science, University College London

We would like to thank all our advisors for their support.
